Amazon Leads the UK Online Market - Thursday, June 19, 2008

 

As per the figures released by Hitwise, a web-monitoring firm, Amazon is the most popular internet business in the UK.

Hitwise has released its Hot Shops list, which provides rankings of the highest-visited online retail stores in the UK. This list is brought out quarterly and is based on data obtained in April 2008.

The online retail giant, which has successfully led the rankings since May 2006 of every Hot Shops list, maintains its position above Apple, Play.com, Tesco.com and Argos.
The list, which comprises of several online retail stores already, saw some new players entering, which includes Marks and Spencer and Next.

Hitwise stated that traditional high-street stores have improved their online presence significantly over a couple of years, and the Hot Shops list has shown this change in the market.

Hitwise continued further saying that it’s the sheer variety of retailers in the list – from sellers of the newest high-tech comapnies to grocery and DIY stores – that shows just how central online retail has turned out to be to so many people’s lives when shopping for products and services.

 

Channel 4 Property Ladder finds WSI - Wednesday, April 02, 2008

 

Channel 4's Property Ladder have been working on two Victorian Properties in West London, and needed the gardens paving and tidying up.

They began their search for a Professional Website Company by using the web. They didn't have to look too far!

Channel 4 found WSI. The website was created using the WSI ASAP system. A system designed to be speedily built (this one was built and launched in a day!) and suits the needs of a smaller budget perfectly.

An email was sent to Felix of Prestige Paving to Channel 4.

Microsoft says it made a fair offer to Yahoo - Tuesday, March 04, 2008

 

Microsoft has said it has made a fair offer to search engine company Yahoo for $44.6bn (£22.4bn) in cash and shares.

The offer, contained in a letter to Yahoo's board in Febuary, is 62% was above Yahoo's closing share price.

Yahoo cut its revenue forecasts earlier this week and said it would have to spend an additional $300m this year trying to revive the company.

It has been struggling in recent years to compete with Google, which has also been a competitor to Microsoft.

 

Google shows ITV a vision of the future - Thursday, November 01, 2007



Google’s headline advertising revenues surpassed ITV1’s in the third quarter as the search engine demonstrated it could generate more money from sponsored links than 30-second commercials in Coronation Street.

An analysis for The Times shows that Google generated £327 million in advertising between July and September, compared with an estimated £317 million for all of ITV1 across the UK during the same three-month period.

That is the first quarter in which Google has overtaken Britain’s top commercial channel and came despite ITV1 reaping an advertising boost from the Rugby World Cup.

Google racked up £925 million in advertising revenue in the UK in the first nine months and is set to come in at about £1.25 billion for the year as it continues to expand. A year ago it generated £871 million, overtaking Channel 4, meaning that its UK annual growth is about 43.5 per cent.

 

WSI UK Young Entrepreneur Scholarship (YES!) Program - Saturday, September 29, 2007

 

WSI has commenced the screening of applications for nominees to its UK Young Entrepreneur Scholarship (YES!) Program, a corporate youth outreach initiative.
